TUPELO, Miss. — In a recent survey titled “Spiritual State of the Nation,” evangelicals were reported to view immigration, American sovereignty and abortion as the peak concerns facing the country ahead of the 2024 presidential election. Reasoning behind evangelicals’ responses comes from the nation’s ongoing border crisis, and states’ abortion restrictions that have been passed following the 2022 Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization Supreme Court victory. The survey also found that a mass majority of evangelicals believe “all U.S. citizens should have freedom of religion and be able to freely express it in public life” and “that radical Islam continues to pose a significant threat to America.”
Walker Wildmon, CEO of AFA Action, the Government Affairs Affiliate of the American Family Association, urges Christians to be active participants in upcoming elections in order to preserve America’s foundational values.
“The survey highlights the pressing concerns of Evangelicals in the upcoming presidential election, emphasizing immigration, American sovereignty, and abortion as pivotal issues,” says Wildmon. “These matters strike at the very heart of our Christian beliefs and the moral underpinnings of our country. Evangelicals are facing unprecedented challenges, from safeguarding our freedom of religion to addressing the rising threat of radical Islam within our borders. In a nation built on biblical precepts, it’s troubling to see increasing instances of discrimination and bias against Christians. Silence and inaction are not viable options. I implore every Christian to actively participate in the democratic process, make use of reliable resources like www.iVoterGuide.com that provide research-based information on candidates’ positions, voting records and endorsements, and use their votes to uphold America's founding values and combat the moral decay we’re witnessing.”
